One-Piece Tub Shower Assembly

The one-piece design allows for easy installation right the stud frame, with the floor bottom of the fixture itself raised slightly to accommodate easier plumbing connection. After enclosure is set into place, finish with drywall, or cement backer-board (if finishing with ceramic tile around shower stall). Fixtures are generally made of acrylic (fiberglass) with a satin, or high-gloss finish.

Prices are usually in the $250 to $750 range.

Acrylic One-Piece Shower Enclosures

Great for small bathroom where space is at a premium. Easy installation with minimal handling and connection. A real popular item among professional remodelers and house flippers.

Prices for one-piece shower enclosures start at around $200 and go on up to $700 for higher quality models.

Modular Shower Enclosures
These types of enclosures are designed for most any bathroom renovation because of ease of installation, functionality, and style. Come shipped with a receptor (base), the basic surround, which is comprised of the back wall, and two side walls.

The receptor (base) is installed first, and then the walls are added. Many manufacturers offer units with a tongue and grooved interlocking connection system resulting in a seamless look. Sizes generally range from small (36″w x 34″d), medium (48″w x 34″d), large (60″w x 34″d), with a high-gloss or satin finish as standard. Modular styles include both the tub/shower, and the shower enclosure options, which makes for an excellent bathroom shower idea.

Prices are in the $500 to $800 range.

Custom Ceramic Tile Surrounds
Another popular bathroom shower idea is one made of ceramic tile. Basic surrounds can be made in four inch, six inch, eight inch, and twelve inch tile sizes that surround a tub/shower, a small shower opening, on up to a full-size stall with seat.

It is highly recommended that you install concrete backer-board as a moisture-resistant backing/support for your tile surround placement. In fact, some parts of the country already require this method as a building code enforcement.

Prices for basic 4″ – 6″ tile surrounding a tub/shower can be anywhere from $400 to $800, depending on installation of single-color material versus some sort of pattern to be installed. If looking to custom tile a larger shower stall with shelves, seating, etc., prices could easily reach into the $1000’s. These prices reflect the average labor cost only.
